Today the Gmail team announced that two of its Gmail Labs features, "Don’t forget Bob" and "Got the wrong Bob?" will be rolled out for all users over the next couple of days. As our contact lists get longer our ability to remember everyone on them diminishes. Gmail is hoping to provide you with a crutch to make sure that you not only send your emails to the right people, but to make sure that you don’t forget anyone from your recipient list.
The "Don’t forget Bob" feature will show a list of people you may have forgotten to include in your recipient box based on who you contact the most. The "Got the wrong Bob?" feature will also scan your recipient list and show a list of alternative users in your contact list that are similar to the recipients you have listed, making sure that you really meant to include "Alexandra" instead of "Alex," for example.
Although neither of the features intend on serving as a completely reliable alternative to any memory lapses you may experience, in tandem they will serve as an added convenience for all Gmail user and save you from forgetting to add your boss to a potentially important email or prevent you from accidentally sending your cat-related email to a client instead of a relative. So keep your eyes peeled over the next day or two for when these new Gmail features hit your inbox!
