Samsung’s Galaxy S III gets Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update in Europe

Polish customers gets the update first, with the rest of Europe coming in October

Samsung’s Galaxy S III has begun updating to version 4.1.1 of Android, affectionately known as Jelly Bean, in Europe. This hopefully means that U.S. customers will see the Jelly Bean update sooner, rather than later. Users in Poland are the first to receive the newest update, while other European customers will begin to see it "no later than October."

First revealed at the 2012 Google I/O conference in June, Jelly Bean brings several improvements to the Android platform, including improved widgets, offline voice typing, expanded notifications, Google Now, two home screen modes, and much more. It’s important to note that the Galaxy S III will use Samsung’s TouchWiz interface, so it’s not yet known if all of Jelly Bean’s features will be available.

Samsung has also revealed the complete list of Android devices that will receive the Jelly Bean update in the near future, including the Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, and Galaxy Note 10.
