It’s taken me years to be
Comfortable in my own skin
Too many demons plagued me,
Both from outside and within.
I tried to change;
That only led to illness.
My size was never good enough
Nor was my chosen dress.
Once I realised,
At long last,
There’s no pleasing everyone,
I left attempts at conformity in the past.
I am finally free
To truly be me, both outside and in,
The me I was meant to be,
And I am comfortable in my own skin.
