Still, as someone chomping at the bit to vote against Obama, I couldn’t vote for any of them. Sure, they share some of my views and even a few have led a state or a business and I respect that. At the same time, I can’t honestly look at any of them and think: “There’s the man/woman who can lead us out of this mess.”
That’s troubling. Where have the real leaders gone? Where are the leaders who will step up and tell the truth, work toward compromise for the betterment of each citizen?
I hate to be pessimistic as I have always been an optimist about America. The bitter partisanship of the last 12 years has eroded much of that optimism. There’s too much lobbying, too much money, and too much infighting to get the people’s business done. That means you, me, our kids all lose.
For the first time since I was able to vote in the 1988 election, I am strongly considering not voting. I will not just vote for someone any longer because I don’t like the other guy. We deserve the government we get and right now it’s a whole lot of trash.
What does that say about us?
