Difint, LLC has announced the release of its latest app, Hanzi Warrior. Hanzi Warrior is a language adventure game for learning Bopomofo (Zhùy?n fúhào), Pinyin, Traditional and Simplified Mandarin words and characters.
The Chinese language can be challenging for both beginners and native speakers alike. Most mobile applications in this genre are dictionary and flash card-based applications that never really go beyond the basics of rote memorization. Also, few applications exist for learning the Zhùy?n fúhào. Hanzi Warrior takes the language learning experience to the next level.
Hanzi Warrior bridges the gap between rote learning and fast-paced gameplay with a new twist on an ancient theme. Based on the Wu Xing, or five phases, Hanzi Warrior engages the player with a quest to save the Earth. Building on Chinese lore, Hanzi Warrior creates a unique world with challenging educational gameplay. Through a series of unique challenges the player advances across five different realms with over twenty-eight worlds.
Hanzi Warrior is also an excellent test preparation tool. its support for simplified Mandarin words and characters is based on a corpus from the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) exam. likewise, its support for traditional Mandarin words and characters is based on a corpus from the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL/TOP) exam. Apart from the gameplay storyline, the built-in “Train” mode allows the player to build their recognition skills at any time.
