If you want to play a Western stand-off game, High Noon is a great iPhone app choice for you. Although I have played one other game like High Noon before, High Noon is actually the better of the two because there are more features and the app is very responsive to the player’s touch.
High Noon is a game in which you have to pretend that your iPhone is a weapon and you play a game of “draw and shoot” with another person via 3G or some other connection. The gaming concept is by no means new, but the way that the developer has created this game makes me believe that this is one of the best games I have ever downloaded. Not only that, but I was surprised that High Noon was free. So, not only is it a great game, but it is a game that the developer has decided to offer for free.
The graphics are not great if you compare them to other games that may have 3D graphics. But, they do fit with the overall concept of the game. The graphics are a bit cartoonish, which makes sense when I think about the gaming concept. It feels like I am watching a Sunday morning cartoon. The graphics are also clear: the characters are not blurry which makes the gameplay much more fun and engaging.
The gameplay, however, is the biggest reason why I love playing High Noon. It is so easy to use the controls that I feel playing the game is second nature. I like that the developer decided to use the accelerometer function in order to control the weapon. Doing so makes High Noon feel like a Wii game, just because it is more interactive that way. And, I love the multiplayer function that allows me to play with people all over the world. There are so many weapons from which to choose, making each duel interesting and fun. The app is very responsive to the controls, so I do not feel like I have to throw the iPhone very hard in order to make the weapon work. Playing the game seems effortless, even though each game is challenging.
In short, I would highly recommend High Noon. If you don’t have any money to spare on a game but you would still like a new app for your iPhone, I would suggest downloading High Noon.
