I’m sorry this was so long, but it had to be in order to give you a full detailed description on the good smart phones available from at&t.
Okay, I am almost in the same position as you are lol, plus, I’m with at&t also Im going to be a college freshman this fall.
It all depends on how much you want to spend and have on the phone. though, its not just about how much you want to spend on the phone itself, but on the service too.
Here are some good smart phones with different price ranges in order of priority I would choose if I were to buy a new smart phone:
1)iphone 3gs 16gb: The most expensive smart phone available for at&t. (due to its expensive monthly service). This phone to me is the “anything and everything” phone, because it can do anything and everything. The apps are also a huge plus because there are so many possibilities you can have with apps from the itunes store. Such as games, books, map navigator and music apps for example. Since you HAVE to buy unlimited internet for this phone, you can go on the internet anytime you want!Cost:$200, or $100 for an 8gb.-$30 extra monthly service required for unlimited data; internet
2)HTC Fuze: This is another expensive phone. though, extra monthly internet service is not required. it has slide out qwerty board and microsoft office suite!though, it is very bulky…cost: $300
3)Black Berry Bold: Expensive phone with a sleek design and brilliant display screen. Plus, its a Black Berry! Great for mail.cost:$300
4)Samsung Epix: Not-as-expensive phone that comes with a stylus for the touch screen and a finger sensor to act as a mouse right where the usual D-pad button is on for most phones; around the middle under the screen. This looks like a fun phone.cost:$179
5) Pantech Matrix Pro: This is another really fun phone. it slides two ways: Vertically for the number pad to dial numbers, and horizontally for the qwerty board for text messaging. This is the phone to get if you like a lot of “slide out” phones.cost: $100
6) Nokia E71x: This is the very last phone I would recommend. it generally looks like a great smart phone, but I would only get it because it is literally “the worlds thinnest smart phone” at .4 inches!cost: $100================================================
Conclusion: at the end of the day, iphone 3gs (16gb or 32gb) or iphone 3g (8gb) is the way to go, of course, if you can afford it. The extra $30 required a month can really add up, including the monthly plan for minutes and text messaging.
Though, if you don’t want to spend all of that money on the iphone, choose one of the other phones I have recommended for you. But just to let you know in my opinion, those phones don’t even compare within a MILE! The iphone is a phone, ipod, and internet browser in one! The anything and everything phone.
Im sorry this was so long, but I really wanted to give you a detailed description on what to expect for these smart phones.
